O seu single de estreia "Video Games"/"Blue Jeans" foi lançado pela Stranger Records em formato digital e vinil em Outubro de 2011. Em 2011 Lana foi contratada pela empresa de moda "Next Model Management", estando ao lado de Ali Lohan (irmã de Lindsay Lohan), Alexa Chung e Solange Knowles em seu time de modelos. Seu álbum de estreia Born to Die, foi lançado em janeiro de 2012. While being interviewed by Rosie Swash of The Observer, Del Rey revealed, "I just put that song online a few months ago because it was my favorite. To be honest, it wasn't going to be the single but people have really responded to it. I get very sad when I play that song. I still cry sometimes when I sing it."

Começou a sua carreira na edição de 2004 da versão sueca do programa Ídolos, onde acabou em quarto lugar. Saltou para a ribalta em Fevereiro de 2011, quando entrou no Melodifestivalen desse ano com a música “My Heart Is Refusing Me” que, apesar de só ter chegado à Second Chance Round, atingiu o #9 no top dos singles mais vendidos da Suécia. Está desde então a preparar o seu álbum de estreia, do qual também foi lançado o single “Sober”, atingindo a posição #26. Em 2012, voltou a entrar no Melodifestivalen com o tema “Euphoria”, e alcançou o primeiro lugar sendo este single #1 na Suécia, ganhando assim o direito de representar seu país no Eurovision 2012.

Loreen will represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan with her entry "Euphoria". In 2005 she released a single, "The Snake", with the group Rob'n'Raz. Later in 2005 she became a television presenter with the Swedish station TV400 for a year and then took a hiatus from the limelight. Loreen returned to the public eye when she took part in Melodifestivalen 2011 with the song "My Heart is Refusing Me", which she co-wrote with Moh Denebi and Björn Djupström. After placing fourth in the second semifinal in Gothenburg, she competed in the Second Chance round, but failed to qualify to the final after a sing-off with Sara Varga. The song was released on 11 March 2011 and became a hit on the Swedish Singles Chart, reaching #9. In the first semifinal of Melodifestivalen 2012 on February 4, Loreen advanced directly to the final round with her entry "Euphoria", written by Thomas G:son and Peter Boström. She won the national final on March 10 and will now represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan. According to Betfrid she is the favourite to winning the contest.

Lançou os primeiros singles na Dinamarca em 2007 (Flå e Et øjeblik), seguido pelo álbum debut, Tæt på, lançado no mesmo ano. Seu segundo álbum Velkommen til Medina foi lançado em agosto de 2009. O primeiro single deste álbum, Kun for mig, atingiu por quatro vezes o status de disco de Platina e ficou por diversas semanas na primeira posição na parada musical oficial da Dinamarca, Hitlisten, como também o segundo single, Velkommen til Medina. Em setembro de 2009, Medina liberou uma versão em inglês de Kun for mig, intitulado You and I, no Reino Unido, Alemanha, Áustria e Suíça.
